Nora Nikolac Gabaj graduated in medical biochemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry in 2001. Since 2002, she has been employed at the Department of Clinical Chemistry, Sestre Milosrdnice University Hospital Center, Zagreb, where she is currently the Head of the Department for medical biochemistry and analytical toxicology. In the period from 2004-2009 she is a researcher on the projects of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports. In 2005, she enrolled in the postgraduate doctoral study of medical biochemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry. She passed the specialist exam in analytical toxicology in 2009, which earned her the title of specialist in analytical toxicology. In 2011, she defended her doctoral dissertation entitled: "The influence of SUR-1 and KCNJ11 gene polymorphisms on the regulation of type 2 diabetes." In 2020, she was elected to the scientific-teaching title of Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, University of Zagreb. Since 2020, she has been the Head of the Reference Center for Medical Biochemistry Emergency Diagnostics of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia.
Nora Nikolac Gabaj is the author or co-author of 80 scientific or professional papers, of which 66 are cited in the Current Contents database, she has 1,621 citations in the Science Citation Index Expanded database (1,522 without self-citations) with H-index=22. She is the editor of two books and three manuals, author of 21 chapters in books and manuals, over 100 congress abstracts, invited lecturer at more than 40 international and domestic scientific and professional meetings. As a member of the scientific and organizational committee, she actively participated in the organization of 9 congresses and symposia in the field of laboratory medicine, as well as independent management of three continuing education courses of the Croatian Chamber of Medical Biochemists. She teaches at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of the University of Zagreb, within the framework of graduate, doctoral and specialist studies, where she is a mentor to students for the graduate and doctoral theses. She is the winner of the Annual Award of the Croatian Society of Medical Biochemists for scientific work in 2008. She is an active member of the Croatian Society for Medical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, within which she works in the Working groups for pre-analytics, endocrinology and extravascular body samples. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal Biochemia Medica.
Dunja Rogić, full professor of the Zagreb University Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, was born in Zagreb where she graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry; she earned her MSc degree in 1991 and PhD in 2000, and she has been a medical biochemistry specialist since 1995. Since 1987, she has been employed at University Hospital Center Zagreb, and she has been head of Department of Laboratory Diagnostics since 2013. She completed postgraduate study 'Leadership and Management in Health Services' (Zagreb University School of Medicine – Andrija Štampar School of Public Health and London School of Economics). She is leader/co-leader of two research projects and has participated in 13 scientific projects of Croatian Ministry of Science and Education, Croatian Science Foundation and in two international projects.
She has chaired a congress scientific committee and was member of organizing committee of a number of national scientific and professional congresses, an invited speaker at numerous meetings, and also a leader/organizer of international course: Evidence-Based Laboratory Medicine. She has been an invited lecturer and organizer of continuing education courses for both medical biochemists and doctors of medicine.
She participates in undergraduate and graduate study at Zagreb University School of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry; she is the author of 107 research and professional papers indexed in WoSCC and 230 congress posters and oral poster presentations at international and national scientific and professional meetings. She is a co-editor of three university teaching textbooks, four professional textbooks, and author of four chapters in scientific and 16 chapters in professional books.
She is a mentor to students of Zagreb University Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry in planning and completing graduate and doctoral theses.
She was member of the international IFCC Committee for Evidence-Based Medicine, member of EFLM Working Group for Postanalytical Phase, vice president of Croatian Chamber of Medical Biochemists (HKMB), of HKMB Committee for Professional Issues, and since 2019 she has chaired the HKMB Continuing Education Committee; she is also member of several scientific and professional societies. She is a winner of IFCC-AVL international award for one of 10 best papers in the field of intensive care and emergency laboratory medicine, of the Croatian Medical Association award for exceptional merits, of the Zagreb University School of Medicine award for outstanding achievements in medical profession and science, and of the City of Zagreb Award.
Lidija Bilić-Zulle, PhD, full professor, EuSpLM
Lidija Bilić-Zulle was born in Rijeka, where she completed primary and secondary school. She graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry at the University of Zagreb with a Master's degree in Medical Biochemistry. After graduation, she was employed at the Clinical Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics at the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka, where she still works today. She completed her specialisation in medical biochemistry and laboratory medicine at the Clinical Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics at the Clinical Hospital Centre Zagreb. After becoming a European specialist in laboratory medicine, she was employed at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rijeka in the Department of Medical Informatics, as a joint jobs with the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka. She obtained her Master of Science degree at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry at the University of Zagreb and her PhD degree at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka, where she became an assistant professor, associate professor and full professor of medical informatics. In addition to laboratory medicine, her scientific interests include scientific research methodology, statistical data processing and research integrity. She teaches several courses within the graduate and postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka. Since 2013, she has been the head of the Clinical Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics at the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka.
